Good Afternoon Pack 471 Families!!
Who is ready for the Pack 471 Fall Family Camping “Spooky-Ree”? It’s only 2 weeks away! MEALS
The pack will be providing Friday night s’mores, breakfast/lunch/dinner/dessert Saturday, and a cold Sunday breakfast before we roll out. Please make sure you bring your own camp food for Friday night dinner or get something on the way up! Coffee will be hot ALL weekend!
MED FORMS
A Med Form is REQUIRED by BSA to participate in any overnight campout for EACH attendee, not just the Scout! We must have these available for the camp staff. Please email leaders the completed copies at pack471leader@gmail.com or you can also drop paper forms off in the mailbox at 4040 Crossfield Place. The form is available on the pack website and is also attached.
ACTIVITIES
We will have a bunch of activities planned before lunch and after lunch that we will do as a pack. We will also have a fun filled night trick or treating! Scouts are encouraged to bring their costumes and a Trick-Or-Treat bag!
CAMPING
We will be staying at Campsite 6. There is limited parking in front of the site and along the street, so additional parking can be found closest at the dining hall (refer to attached map). If anyone has not had any experience with camping, please work with your den leaders to make sure you know how to set up your tent. Please let me, or your den leader, know if you need any help setting up your tent when you arrive. Campsite 6 has plenty of tent platforms (~10’x10’) or open space on the ground to pitch a tent. A packing list is attached as a helpful guide on what to bring!
YOUTH PROTECTION
If this is your first time attending BSA camping, please note there are several protections set up as part of Youth Protection. Scouts are only allowed in their families’ tents. There is an exception for the 4th and 5th graders being allowed to tent with other members of their den if they bring extra tents, but no kids are allowed in any tent with an adult that is a non-blood relative or guardian. Woodruff has both male and female youth only restrooms and single-use restrooms. Adults are not allowed in youth-only restrooms! These protections are in place to maintain a safe environment for our children.
VOLUNTEERS
Many hands make light work! We are always looking for help making the camping trip run as smoothly as possible! We need some kitchen help for the meals and families to create and run Trick-Or-Treating tables. We had some AWESOME tables last year – donut eating contest (off a string with no hands!), bobbing for apples, “ghost pong”, etc. Below is a sign-up genius link. If you are signing up for a table, let us know in the comment if you are doing a trick-or-treat candy table or an activity table (and what that activity is!)!

We will provide more details on this camping event as we get closer to the date, but we hope the entire family can join us. If you have any questions, please contact pack leaders at pack471leader@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fun weekend!
