About Us
GM Pack 471, located in Marietta, Georgia, is chartered through Garrison Mill Elementary PTA and is dedicated to providing thrilling experiences for young scouts. We offer a range of activities such as camping, Pinewood Derby, cookouts, rocket launches, and fundraisers. Our goal is to engage and enrich the lives of our scouts, fostering a sense of adventure, camaraderie and duty to the community.
Featured Activities
Camping
We host 3 family friendly pack-wide camp trips every year. In the Fall and Spring we gather at Woodruff Scout Reservation in Blairesville for games, outdoor education and skills building and s'mores of course!
Additionally, a "Big Trip" is planned at the end of the school year at a different special venue. (Previous years have been at Majestic Caverns in Alabama, Sleep in the Deep at Tennesee Aquarium, and Mighty Eighth Overnight outside of Savannah) Click the Camping tab for more info!
Pinewood Derby
Get ready for the exhilarating Pinewood Derby races! Design your own car, compete against friends, and feel the thrill of racing down the track. It's a fun and creative way to showcase your craftsmanship and engineering skills. Children, parents and grandparents often gleefully anticipate this time-honored tradition of cub scouting! More artist than engineer? Cars are awarded for style as well as speed!
Rocket Launch
Are you ready for an adventure that's truly out of this world? Our rocket-launch event in the late spring is a pack favorite! Learn about aerodynamics, engineering, and teamwork as you build and launch your own rockets into the sky. It's an exciting hands-on experience that ignites curiosity and exploration.
Your scout will construct their very own rocket at home, that we launch at a potluck luncheon in the late spring.
Fundraisers
Support our scouts and their activities by participating in our fundraisers. Whether it's selling popcorn, organizing events, or seeking sponsorships, your contributions help us continue to provide enriching experiences for our young members.
Community Events
Engage with the community through our various events and service projects. From clean-up drives to charity initiatives, we believe in giving back and making a positive impact in Marietta, Georgia and beyond.
