T-75 Hours and Counting

There is a lot of excitement out there at T- 75 hours and counting for the fourth annual Pack 471 Rocket Launch.   The weather forecast for Sunday May 19, 2013 calls for a sunny day, high of 79 degrees with isolated thunderstorms later in the afternoon and evening with only a 30% chance of rain.   Bring your sunscreen!

The pre-launch activities will start at 12:00 PM at Garrard Landing Park located on Holcomb Bridge Road at the Chattahoochee River.  All scouts should be in Class A Uniform for the Cross-Over Ceremony which will mark the graduation of scouts to the next rank.  Each scout will also receive a new handbook and neckerchief for their new rank as applicable.

In addition to the festivities this year, we will be celebrating the promotion of our new Cubmaster Ron Mixon.  I will be stepping down and assuming the role of Assistant Cubmaster for next year working with the Webelos II to get to Arrow of Light and crossover to boy scouts.  I will continue to be active with the Pack Committee and planning for the next year.  Ron will be a great addition to the leadership of the Pack and supporting the Den Leaders.

So, finish the last minute painting and applying the decals to those rockets.  We are looking forward to seeing them soar!

Dan Betts

Assistant Cubmaster, Pack 471
